About us

GCB was created by Mauro Vissers and his grandfather Peter Vissers, who is also his godfather. Hence the name GCB, which is the abbreviation for GodChildBrewery, translated it means godchild brewery.

Peter created his own beer Ne Flierefluiter in 1982, but stopped brewing it. Initially by brewery de Smet and later by brewery Anders. Mauro grew up among the barley juice and as he got older, he also became interested in the brewing process. In 2020, they brewed for the first time in Peter's kitchen, shortly after a small installation was purchased where the test brews are made.

In 2022, Mauro's father brought a bottle of cider from Scotland, this cider had matured in a whisky barrel. When Mauro tasted this, he was immediately sold, he wanted to make something like that too. In 2023, the first cider was released, called Cuvée Louis. This apple cider matured for 6 months in a whisky barrel. We already make our cider completely ourselves, the dream is to brew our beers completely ourselves as well.
